I had my big radio debut today! Amanda, Jen and I were asked to be on Peter Greenberg’s radio show (he’s also the Today Show’s travel correspondent). The girls and I met early at Jen’s office in midtown to prepare for the six-minute segment and use her hi-tech speaker phone for the interview.
As with most things in my life, it didn’t exactly work out as planned. We thought Jen’s office would be perfectly quiet since it was early on a Saturday morning, but just two minutes before we were to go live, the fire alarm went off. As we were running around frantically trying to find a quiet office to set up in as lights flashed and bells sounded, Peter introduced us on air, the alarms magically silenced and we were live. Amanda answered the first question about work-life balance, Jen took the next about relationships on the road, and by the time Peter’s last question came, “So, are you going to write a book about it?” I quickly responded with, “Yes, we’re going to write a book—“ Then I was cut off because we were out of time. And that, ladies and gentlemen, was my 15 seconds of fame.
