Watch Me Turn 30, by Holly C.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I'm a 29-year-old New Yorker who inherited this site from my pal, Holly P., to document the final year of my twenties. Right up until I turn the big 3-0 next January, I'll use this blog to indulge my inner-narcissist by voicing the good (I can date men anywhere from ages 21 to 50 without it being scandalous) the bad (I keep getting ma'amed) and the ugly (is it possible to get cellulite on your stomach?!). Here's to waving goodbye to my youth, accepting adulthood and remembering that every ending is really just a new beginning.

DAY 245  |  October 1, 2007
I have a thing for big, shiny, bright ….grocery stores. The problem with food shopping in the city is that the aisles are barely wide enough to fit a single cart and no one place has everything I need (okay, want ). I have to stop at a fruit stand for produce, butcher for fresh meat, and health store for veggie burgers. It’s so time consuming!

To make it easy, I used to have my groceries delivered by Fresh Direct. But they’ll package a single container of hummus, for example, all by itself in a big cardboard box. So my guilt about hurting the environment has won out over my desire for convenience.

But today my grocery store fantasies came true when I discovered the Food Emporium in Union Square. Yeah for choices! And space! The shelves were stocked with fresh fruits and veggies, dozens of different brands of chips, and—my personal favorite—Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches. And there was enough room for not one, but two carts to fit in an aisle. I refrained from doing a little dance of joy, but instead wandered the aisles grinning from ear to ear while my fellow shoppers looked at me like I was nuts.
