OMG—I have a new favorite restaurant. It’s a Japanese place called Zenkichi on North 6th in Williamsburg that has no sign outside, but just a single light and wood paneling. It’s the perfect date place because the inside is a twisting maze of mirrors and dark booths that offer diners complete privacy, thanks to a bamboo curtain that shields you from view and a call button to summon the waitress whenever you need a sake refill.
Afterwards my friend took me to a Bulgarian dance club in the lower East Side where we smoked mango-flavored tobacco from hookahs and watched a male belly dancer. I love, love nights like this where I get to explore all the cool, hidden places that make New York so amazing. I feel so lucky that I live here!
