Watch Me Turn 30, by Holly C.
I'm a 29-year-old New Yorker who inherited this site from my pal, Holly P., to document the final year of my twenties. Right up until I turn the big 3-0 next January, I'll use this blog to indulge my inner-narcissist by voicing the good (I can date men anywhere from ages 21 to 50 without it being scandalous) the bad (I keep getting ma'amed) and the ugly (is it possible to get cellulite on your stomach?!). Here's to waving goodbye to my youth, accepting adulthood and remembering that every ending is really just a new beginning.

DAY 89  |  April 28, 2007
In honor of Kathy Corbett’s 55th birthday today, I want to share some “momisms” that she’s emailed me throughout this year.

On dating: “I never go out expecting to have chemistry with a man, I really go out to have fun. When it happens I am totally caught off guard. I really go out to hear a good band.”

On diving: “Please be careful if you scuba and no need to go deep, 25 to 30 ft is deep enough and ascend very, very slowly so you don’t get the "bends". There was a show on TV about it last night and someone got narcosis from ascending too quickly. Have fun baby and I miss you very much.”

On aging: “I plan on rollerblading daily come spring. When you visit this summer we will be blading. I quit smoking at 50 and plan on getting in the best shape ever at 55.”

Like most teenagers, I once rolled my eyes at these words of wisdom. As I’ve grown older, I’ve not only learned to appreciate the “momisms,” I can’t imagine life without them. Stayed tuned for more gems come Mother’s Day…

In the meantime, I just want to say that I love you, Momma! And I hope I look half as good as you when I’m 55. May your 55th be your best year yet.
