Tomorrow is Anzac Day, which honors Australian and New Zealand World War I veterans (ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps). It also appears to be an excuse to hang out at a pub for two days straight. Our new friend, Leonie, insisted that we kick off the celebration the night before, so we headed out for some brewskies.
She’s one of those women I could tell that I’d be friends with instantly. She’s also freaking hilarious. Here’s some dialogue from a conversation about our travel adventures.
“I shagged a hobbit,” she said.
“A what?!” I asked in disbelief.
“A hobbit. I was backpacking around New Zealand and got recruited to help with costumes for the filming of “Lord of the Rings,” Leonie explained. The movie wrap party resulted in a little liaison with one of the actors. I won’t name any names, but I have her permission to reveal the following hints: This former hobbit happens to be in Hawaii now filming a show called “Lost” and dating Evangeline Lilly. That’s all you get.
